STATE OF THE DISTRICT ADDRESS
State of the District Address
Hello & Thanks for showing interest in our country, state, and District.
As voters, we must be informed.
The future of our families, friends, local community and businesses depend on us. If you live in Summit, Portage, or Stark County then this is for “US”.
Yes, I live in this District too!
I remember a time when the American dream was alive and well in our community. Families were able to afford their homes, taxes were reasonable, and everyone had a chance to succeed.
However, over the past few years, things have changed.
The community has been hit hard by diminishing income, inflated taxes, and unethical leadership. The truth is, We are struggling now more than ever.
You are my neighbors, my friends & family AND It’s time we do something.
Our journey starts with keeping the government out of our wallet and giving the power back to you.
Hi, I’m Greg Wheeler, your next Congressional representative & Let me be the first to formally welcome you to Ohio’s New 13th District for the United States House of Representatives.
Stay with me as we introduce a plan for the future to save our families, our state, and our security for the future.
Welcome to the STATE OF OUR DISTRICT
When you look at the state of District 13, the thing that jumps out the most is that this district didn’t exist a year ago.
Because of the last census, Ohio lost a seat within Congress. Ohio drafted new maps.
As a result, for the first time in over half a century, Summit County is united within one Congressional District.
The district also includes northern Stark County and a small portion of Portage County. The “Akron-Canton Corridor” which is connected in business and culture, finally has one representative.
There are many issues impacting our new district.
Since President Biden assumed office, the cost of living has skyrocketed. On his inauguration, gas was $2.32 per gallon in our district.
Today it is over $4.00. Ground beef, milk, eggs, and most other groceries are considerably more expensive.
Families are spending an extra $385 per month just to live compared with last year.
We’ve all felt inflation’s impact on our lives.
But to solve the problem, we have to identify the cause:
Big government is reckless.
It is taking money out of your pocket and spending it; like they can just print more.
Our government forgets, every time they spend, they take money from us.
Last year, the United States Federal Government spent 6.82 trillion dollars. It cost the government more to run our country in just one year than it cost to wage all of World War 1 AND World War 2
AND every other war we have fought, combined.
This $6.82 trillion in government spendings means that the government spent more than $20,000 per person in just one year.
I don’t have an extra twenty grand to give to the government year after year, do you?
This reckless spending has propelled our nation into $30 trillion in debt.
How many lifetimes would it take you to pay off that credit card?
This reckless spending happens when our representatives allow other states to spend our money.
The residents of Summit, Portage and Stark counties helped to bail out New York City’s subway system. Why?
We helped to bail out Illinois’ teacher pension programs and New York State employee pensions program. Why?
We paid part of $27 billion dollars to bail out the State of California. Why?
I’ll tell you why.
Weak leadership from our representatives.
We cannot afford to continue to pay for the whims of other states while our elected leaders ignore our needs.
Reckless government spending happens because our federal government is huge.
The federal government employs over 5 million people and there are over 400 federal administrative agencies.
Our government’s enormous size leads to enormous spending, and it is breaking our economy.
Remember, when the government spends all this money, they have to take it from somewhere. That Somewhere is your pocketbook and mine.
While the government takes money from our pockets, they are causing our district to stagnate.
In the last decade, our district’s population shrunk.
That might not seem concerning until you realize our country grew 7.5% in the same time.
The rest of the country is growing, but our district is shrinking.
Our district’s shrinkage is a clear sign our region is not a priority to our elected leaders.
Our neighbors are forced to look elsewhere for opportunity.
When they leave, to go to the places Ohioans are bailing out, we shrink.
This has been the trend in our district for the last half century.
To make things worse, While we shrink, we’re also becoming poorer.
Our District has an average annual income that is $10,000 less than the average american.
Well over twenty percent of our residents live in poverty.
When we compare ourselves to the nation as a whole, we should be angry at our leaders because, only decades earlier, we were the heartbeat of it all.
If anyone would have predicted that the Akron-Canton region would be dragging down the country’s prosperity numbers, they’d have been laughed into obscurity.
That is today’s reality.
The shrinking of our district is the result of the unwelcoming business climate created by our elected officials.
Our district and our state are not friendly to businesses.
That’s why, for decades, Akron-Canton has lost the majority of our flagship companies and the jobs they created.
What happened to the massive industry which used to be the cornerstones of our local economy?
Bad leadership in government made Ohio one of the hardest states to conduct business in. & Those businesses left for opportunities elsewhere.
Because the businesses are gone, As a graduate of Copley highschool and University of Akron, it kills me that Ohio consistently loses up to 40% of its college graduates when they move to other states for work.
Most of my friends had to leave & it’s no wonder we are shrinking.
These issues affecting our district are happening because of who we have chosen to represent us.
Currently, the representatives of our district live in Rocky River, Warren, and Ashland.
It’s not hard to figure out, looking at a map, why Akron and Canton are not priorities for our congressmen.
They don’t live here.
It takes an average of 52 minutes for our representatives to get to the center of our district.
That’s absurd.
The new district gives us a chance to make a change for Akron and Canton, wherein the past our voices were ignored.
We need our voice to be heard in congress.
That’s why it’s important to elect someone who lives in the district and who shares our concerns.
Akron and Canton must be represented by a local leader who will fight for us.
If not, we will continue to suffer from the same problems that have plagued us for decades.
We cannot adopt big government spending like the democrat party has pushed for years.
We simply cannot afford it.
Going forward, we need a plan.
We must reduce government spending.
It’s thievery.
Big Government is burning through our money & our children’s money & Future.
If you are like me, you are tired of feeling alone and powerless amidst broken parties and political polarization that are only leaving you with less buying power, an empty wallet shattered local economies and unsafe neighborhoods… which soon will lead to a giant housing bubble eliminating your life’s savings…
feel secure that we do have a plan to get the government out of your wallet & give you back the power to heal your communities and instill smart leadership that makes for a positive, powerful happy life and family.
To rebuild the American Dream and unchain you from your homes to live a life that is free!

And silence does not lead to a solution.
